SUSANNAH HEBERT - FLOATING SCULPTURES
My work with glass came by way of calligraphy, to calligraphy on mobiles, to mobiles with marbles and finally to mobiles with glass. I am self taught and have worked with cold glass as a way to enhance the mobiles and yard art I love to make. A lifelong love of materials, supplies and tools, coupled with a curiosity of what I can do with them has always been what I find fun and rewarding. I strive to use my “finds” in unique and untraditional applications that will make my work more original.
I come from a family of artists and spent my childhood watching my Mother make her art. The desire to create has always been with me and it has been a fun and interesting journey. We always had mobiles in our home. The inability to find them for my own home inspired me to make my own. With a few twists and turns into larger and smaller projects along the way, mobiles have been my focus for the last 20 years.
My hope is to fine tune my work, making it more professional and interesting by learning new techniques using cold and hot glass in my kiln.
I have exhibited with The New Orleans Lettering Arts Association, The Calligraphy Guild of Indiana, The Indiana State Fair, and The Hoosier Salon. I also partnered with my sister to Create Unbridled Whimsey in Corydon, Indiana, a weekend art exhibit each October, lasting 8 years.
